Art Experience

Enjoy and celebrate Art

Maris was born in Barinas, Venezuela in 1935. Started painting at young age, mostly painting natural objects called nature morte. Art was a way of self expression as during the mid-seventies struggled with teenagers. Consequently, her life changed spiritually finding God’s Love & picking up a pencil, drawing & oil painting didn’t require to be thinking of growing pains & painting was focus on details giving fruits of art & joy

About

“I never thought about art as a career. I got married at 24 became a house wife with the desire of building a family. I put down my career as social worker assistance working for Eugenio Mendoza Corps to focus on my kids. A few years after my kids were getting older my desire to paint and create art work became stronger. I picked up my essential materials & tools and also turned my eye towards oil painting. Art has always been that special place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and the sometimes hectic world of parenting. It’s a love, a passion and a journey

Maris likes to try to capture a quality of the personality, or God given inner beauty of the Still Life.

"My uncle was called Alfonso Linares a Venezuelan-born painter, illustrator and sculptor. Also, He became known for his mural paintings across downtown Caracas during the 1950s and 1960s, and for a firefighter sculpture displayed in the 1970s by the Plaza Las Americas mall in El Cafetal, Caracas. He had became synonymous with a wide spectrum of artistic endeavor which was both uniquely Latin American and worthy of comparison with the best international art. He made part of the list of the Venezuelan Artists as Seka Severin, Arturo Michelena, Alejandro Otero, Patricia Van Dalen, and so on. Alfonso Linares won my heart... Even though he was my uncle, he was like a father to me as well as my oldest brother Alfonso Avila who also was very important in my childhood. And my uncle sowed the seed of art in me. As a matter of fact, he used to take me to the movies. For instance, one time we saw Fantasia. And he explained every part of the production with the meaning of it. It was fascinating how everything made sense as I watched it. "He encouraged me to try art, practice it often, and today I keep reaping the rewards"
